Fortnite caps horizontal FOV at 100° on PC — a relatively narrow window compared to games like Warzone. Within this cap, FOV choice still matters: higher FOV aids building mechanic awareness while lower FOV can sharpen long-range accuracy. This calculator helps you understand your effective FOV across different Fortnite setups and aspect ratios.

Everything competitive players need to know about Fortnite FOV settings.
Fortnite's building mechanic creates a unique FOV dynamic. When placing walls, ramps, and floors rapidly, a wider FOV lets you see more of the structure you're building — critical for identifying where enemy edits and pushes are coming from. Most box-fight specialists prefer the widest available FOV (100°) for exactly this reason.
Many Fortnite players wish the cap were higher. The 100° limit was set by Epic to maintain visual consistency, but it means FOV optimization has a narrow range. The real decision is: do you run 100° for maximum awareness, or pull back to 90° for slightly sharper long-range aim? Most competitive players choose 100°.
Zero Build mode removes construction mechanics entirely, which shifts the FOV calculus. Without building to track, pure gunfight clarity becomes more important — some Zero Build players prefer 90–95° for cleaner tracking. In standard modes, 100° is almost universally recommended.
Console Fortnite players have historically had more limited FOV options. The introduction of expanded FOV settings on next-gen consoles has helped, but PC players still enjoy the full 100° cap. Mobile Fortnite has completely different FOV mechanics managed by the camera distance setting.
